The Greeks had a race in their Olympic games that was unique. The winner was not the runner who finished first. It was the runner who finished with his torch still lit. I want to run all the way with the flame of my torch still lit for Him. (Stowell, Fan The Flame, Moody, 1986, p. 32)

There is not a choice in this race that we are running. You, of necessity, have to keep the oil from leaking out and the flame from being extinguished. "And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves" (Matthew 25:8-9). "Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us. But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not" (Matthew 25:11-12).

They all got to the end, but only those with the flame burning got to go in. The only difference was the oil. In the Old Testament Tabernacle the lamps had to be burning continually.

PRAY:
Lord quicken our hearts to the absolute need of a renewal and refreshing of the Holy Ghost
Saturate us with your presence and sanctify us
Let our hearts beat with a song of worship, praise, thanksgiving, and glory to God
Replace a lukewarm heart with a burning furnace of love for God
That our ears will not be turned or drawn away from what the Sprit is saying to us
Enkindle our hearts with ardor and passion for lost humanity
